  1. Good message. The message from First Friends in RIchmond IN, by Ruthie Tippin of Kalama WA, was sort of similar though less biblical, using Dag Hamershild late Secretary General of UN as an example of seeking to center on the areas between the sacred and secular. Her point was also to let the sacred smooth the roughness of our times and give peace and rest to the soul.

We will have to break the loaves again, or apple fritters?, when you return from CA. Have a good trip and some peaceful times away from home with Tami.

  2. Thank you, Dan, for your words of encouragement and for the prayer suggestions. God help us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and find our rest in him. I do pray God will help me/us to see through his eyes and hear his voice leading us through this valley with COVID and the other life challenges we are all facing daily.

It is amazing to me that he is so patient with us even when our hearts are hardened by exhaustion and fear, like the apostles were. It strikes me in reading these verses from Mark that it was then in the midst of their worst fears and exhaustion that he told them: “Don’t be afraid! Take courage!” And he climbed in the boat with them to quiet the storm in the sea and in their hearts. I am so grateful for his long-suffering and patience with us and for his pursuit of us. I know I find myself very anxious and I sense it from others these days. So thank you for the focus you brought with these verses and your message.
